Back to school season is one of the most exciting times for students. But it can also be one of the most stressful times for parents.
The Women's Centre of York Region is aiming to provide backpacks, chalk full with supplies, to as many school children in the York Region area as we can! But here's the thing:
We need your help.
The Women's Centre of York Region (WCYR) wants to see children succeed, and wants to help ease the financial stress that parents, and specifically low income families and single mothers, will experience. The WCYR serves over a 1000 women in the community, and provides support to them, and their families and children. In 2017, we were able to send over 80 children to school with brand new backpacks, and we want to meet that goal again this year!
About the Program:
Here are the logistics of the program. We need donations in order to see this program thrive. For every donation, know that all the funds received will go directly towards providing students with backpacks!
Here's where you come in. If you're financially able to donate, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Here is where your donations are going:
WHEN YOU DONATE $5: You are giving a student a lunchbox
WHEN YOU DONATE $10: You are giving a student a lunchbox, and a water bottle.
WHEN YOU DONATE $15: You are giving a student a pencil case filled with supplies.
WHEN YOU DONATE $20: You are giving a child a brand new backpack.
WHEN YOU DONATE $40: You are sponsoring a child, and providing them with a brand new backpack, with all new school supplies!
Our aim is to provide these families with backpacks in the last week of August, so we need to meet our target by AUGUST 20TH! I have faith that the community in York Region is able to band together to support such a necessary cause!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and let's make sure that these students can begin their school year prepared, and with dignity!
