1LtWCLee's Friends to Fallen Heroes

On the day 1st LT Weston C Lee gave his life, April 29, 2017, the lives of his family, friends, and community were forever changed. We were given a knowing. We now know the numbing pain of the personal cost of our freedom.

In response, money has been raised by the thousands for a scholarship, his high school, a park and his church. It seems it should be enough, but God’s leading is to do more because today...another family knows.

It is the family of Georgia soldier, SPC Etienne J Murphy.

“ EJ” is the husband of Martha and the father of two young boys, one just a baby. Like Weston’s press release, the dignified but stoic army picture does not give a glimpse into EJ’s smile, twinkling eyes, or his heart.

Please look over the pictures of EJ with his family. As a group, we can reach out to this shattered and fatherless family to show our deepest gratitude for their soldier’s service.

Why this fund? Upon hearing SPC Murphy would not be returning to his family's lives, I did not want to ignore their great loss. I searched for a way to let them know :

1. I was praying for them
2. EJ's life meant something personal to me. Even though I didn't know him personally.
3. Because of Weston's life and sacrifice, I felt a need to invest into these two sons who will grow up without their father.

After searching, I could not find a place to donate. I knew I was one of many Facebook friends who are struggling with a new personal knowledge of the cost of our freedom. I began setting up this gofundme on paper days ago but would not publish it because I feel so unworthy to be the person to start this campaign.

However as I let it sit and time pass, the leading to complete this task has left me without sleep. Today in an completely unrelated Facebook post some one had tagged it. #Godchooseswhoheleads.

I am now stepping out in faith and obedience. Every single penny of the funds raised in this campaign is transparent and will go to SPC Murphy's wife and sons.

Weston's greatest impact was in his love for Jesus and being that love to others. So much has been given, but his community is large. The smallest donations will add up from those God leads to help.

Weston's last timeline photo quote was fitting for his unwavering determination to jump into action. "Time's up. Let's do this."
