Hello Friends-
I have been honored with an assignment to umpire the International Masters Hockey World Cup in Barcelona, Spain this July and August. This is an awesome opportunity for me to put my skills to the test along with the best of the best in masters level field hockey.
Sadly, there is no direct funding from the USAFH or from the IMHA so we are responsible for getting ourselves to Spain, finding housing, navigating transportation, and any meals we don't eat at the clubhouse. That's a few euros for this grad student! I've estimated costs for travel and food with a little padding for emergencies and that's my campaign number.
For those of you who may not know me, I am a full time graduate student and part time field hockey umpire. I will be finishing my masters in sport and performance psychology in June and starting my doctorate in clinical psychology in the fall. Hockey is my passion and my release valve for the stress of being a student and working in charged settings. I also am developing a specialty consulting with officials and referees across sport. This opportunity to connect with umpires from all over the world is priceless on so many levels.
I appreciate ANYTHING you can do to help me get there and take advantage of this chance! If you have contacts in Barcelona or Terrassa, suggestions for things I shouldn't miss, or ideas for creative fundraising, send them along. I would be grateful if you would share my campaign with everyone you know.
I need to get my flights and housing sorted sooner than later but everything else can wait for a while as the details sort themselves out.
One last note, anything I don't use on this trip will be split between my tuition expenses for my doctorate program which starts in the fall and charitable giving.
