Vieques Island Hurricane Relief

Hurricane Maria entered Vieques, PR with over 155 mph winds and took everything the Viequenses had worked for their whole lives. This includes our family on the island.  The only help from the government so far has been the National Guard supplying some food and water, but not enough for the whole island.  As CNN stated, while Vieques Island is only 7 miles from the mainland of Puerto Rico, it might as well be 7000 miles away. 
    10 long days after Maria swept through Vieques, and anxiously waiting, we finally heard directly from our family. Our Vieques family did not hesitate to work on getting the Island back on its feet with the limited supplies and resources that they have. Carrying that spirit along we have decided to take action on our end here in the US to assist and greatly appreciate any help you can aid us with in this effort.

Here are supplies requested:
Non-perishable food
-rice (big bags)
-beans (black and red)
-cans of corn, peas, Vienna sausages, canned corned beef or other canned foods
-oatmeal
-crackers
-other non-perishable foods
-snacks for kids (like goldfish crackers)
-cat and dog food

Cash: No power and banks have run out of cash since there hasn't been a delivery of money to the one bank on the island
- needed to pay for diesel/ gas to fix/ clean up the island

 We are extremely grateful for the love and support from  family,  friends, and clients of The Grand who want to help, including Executive Director, Linda Plaster from the IN TWO WEEKS FOUNDATION, INC that has stepped up to help us get immediate help to our precious little Island of Vieques. Linda Plaster from the ITW Foundation and Carmen Sargeant from The Grand Beauty Spa have teamed up to get urgent and immediate supplies and cash needed to Vieques Island to help our Viequense family and friends to begin rebuilding and to survive until more help is available.

 Viequenses are in desperate need and we can help. Although our Island may never be what it once was, we believe it will rise above these adversities and work towards the pursuit of a peaceful and tranquil existence.

 Our deadline for all collections will be Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017. We are grateful for any donation -- 100% of donations will go to the Viequenses.
