MSM Medical Missions Trip to Haiti

Growing up in the economically and educationally disadvantaged community of Decatur, Georgia, my commitment to improving the lives of families like mine began early. There are few resources, inadequate health care services offered, and practitioners are scarce.
In contemplating a medical career, I wanted to consider where I believed my efforts would be most impactful. I am focused on preventing and lessening diseases through care that reaches even the most vulnerable and underserved populations.
I recognize how connected health, economics, and access are, and am wholly committed to being a global agent for change, which brings me to the reason for this petition.
My school, the Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), in collaboration with Project Medishare, is planning a medical mission trip to Haiti, summer 2018 (July 29 - Aug 5). This year marks the 10th year anniversary of the MSM Haiti Medical Mission Group. While our partners, Project Medishare, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the United States, and a Haitian registered nonprofit, have empowered Haitians to provide and receive access to quality healthcare, sharing knowledge and resources to improve health infrastructure and strengthen the skills of medical professionals for the last 20 years.
Working alongside their community-based and Haitian led programs, we will provide home visits and operate within local and mobile clinics, in the areas of adult medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology.
I believe serving in Haiti is my way of incorporating MSM's mission of improving the health of others in neighboring global communities. However, I need your help to get there!
