Make Vernon's Dream Come True

Vernon Sullivan, 48 years old, developmentally disabled?  That's how many would describe him.  But, that doesn't even begin to tell the whole story.  This man, who doctors said should have been institutionalized due to his disability, has become one of the most able people I know!  And now he wants the world to describe him as "Vernon Sullivan, 48 years old, entrepreneur!

While living on his sisters ranch in Texas, he realized that he is a farmer at heart.  He shovels manure, feeds all the animals, helps grow the food the family eats, and helps with all the upkeep around the small ranch he lives on.  And leave it to Vernon, he's found a way to make money while he does it by bagging up manure to sell as fertilizer and gathering surplus vegetables to sell at a road side stand.  He's also learning how to make herbs and spices and homeopathic remedies with what they grow there.

Now Vernon wants to be able to show the world how self sufficient he has become; that his disability can't and won't hold him back. There is a little road side store front that has come up for sell in their community and Vernon wants to buy it so he can sell his wares.  A beautiful piece of property that would mean independence for this man who has never asked anything of the world...this man who just wants to earn his own way.
