VERN And CAROL MILLER FIRE RECOVERY

Imagine having only time to leave your home with the clothes on your back and your dogs. Imagine never being able to see the home again, or have any of the contents in it.. This sadly is what happened to Vern and Carol Miller, who live in Santa Rosa ,and had their home (and entire neighborhood) burn to the ground yesterday. Vern is an avid dog enthusiast, participating in several dog sports including obedience and hunt tests. I ask as a community we give back to them, and no amount is too small. The money will help with immediate needs of the family. In Vern’s own words”We woke up to someone pounding on the door. A close friend was in shock because he  had just watched his house burn to the ground. "Get out now " was the cry heard around the neighborhood. We gathered the dogs and sped away to an evacuation center. We watched as our neighbors lost one home after another. Trees lit up like Roman candles. Smoke so blinding it was difficult to see across the street. They tell us wind was consistently blowing at 45 mph with gusts to 80. Massive explosions from excessively heated propane tanks ignited.  We had no time to get our most valuable treasures; pictures of my mother, passports, awards and ribbons, my baby pictures, my business, computers, and records, and one of the biggest heart break my daughter Kelsey s memories from when she grew up here. Now we learn that every s single home was burned to the ground. In one 6 hour period we went from doing well with an optimistic outlook making plans for retirement to having absolutely nothing. We're now homeless and i lost my livelihood. All in all we're safe the dogs are safe and we take comfort in knowing the material things can be replaced not the dogs, not Carol, and not me. Deep breath. When the morning dawns tommow we start again..”
