Vergun Plant for the Planet Germany

Donation protected
Miko and Isaac Vergun are two teens dedicated to defending our planet from Climate Change, together with their parents, Rob and Pam (me), for all living things and our future generations. They are part of Plant for the Planet, a group of 46,000 youth worldwide ages approximately 6 to 21 who went through our United Nations sponsored training on Climate Change and Justice, becoming Plant for the Planet Climate Justice Ambassadors. Ambassadors from across the world elected Miko and Isaac as 2 of the 3 Representatives to the Global Board for the region of North America and Oceania so that they can work on stopping Climate Change!

The Global Board will have its Youth Summit, "Global Energy Revolution" in Tutzing, Germany in October and we need to you help us raise money to go so that Isaac and Miko can represent North America and Oceania!

Your donation through this site is tax deductible through our sister organization, Climate Change for Families.

We will use the money to buy airline tickets for our family to go from Oregon in the U.S. to Germany, and for other expenses like train passes.

We hope to raise the majority of the money by mid-July, since after that there is the risk that the ticket prices will go up.

Our family has worked hard to make addressing Climate Change a major priority, though sometimes we just want to have fun and think about ordinary things. But thanks to a lot of support from others and determination on our part, we have not only been involved in expanding Plant for the Planet in the U.S.—Pam is a Program Coordinator for Plant for the Planet—we are part of the federal Climate Change lawsuit, Juliana et al. vs. U.S. et al.! Miko and Isaac are 2 of the 21 youth plaintiffs suing the federal government to get it to protect our constitutional (and basic human) rights to life, liberty, property, (happiness, too?), and to ensure a safe atmosphere protected as the public trust that it is.

Because of the sacrifices we have made to do this work and to buy with limited means a number of energy saving improvements (solar panels, a plug-in hybrid, a heat pump, and more), we have not had money ourselves for a trip like this, or even much in the way of any vacations or travel within Miko and Isaac's memory, so this would be an incredible experience for them to see a bit more of the world and to connect with the other Global Board Members, hopefully with Earth Guardians' RYSE leaders, and others from around the world.

Even more than this, what this trip is really about is our future and our past, for all of us see our home and our birthplaces endangered. In particular for our family, it is about stopping the destruction of the Marshall Islands, the birth place of Miko, and its heritage and whose culture we share.

If we don't raise enough in time for Miko and Isaac to attend the Youth Summit, we will open a savings account and save the money you donated to use for a future Youth Summit and chance
to meet Global Board members, or other major Climate Crisis leadership trip for us.

We would be so joyful to be able to make this trip a reality and to see the leadership development that will result from this opportunity for two youth who have already given so much and who just want the opportunity to make even more of a difference for all our futures, including for the well-being of future generations.

Thank you, Cathy Zheutlin (www.holyrascals.com), for the great video, and Jennie Baker (www.facebook.com/jenniebakerphotography) for the photo of Miko and Isaac with Luke Burbank during their LiveWire Radio interview   as part of the show "How on Earth?"  !
