"To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race." This is the definition of Umoja, a Kwanzaa principle that means "unity." However, this is not just a Kwanzaa principle. This has and is the work mission of Visions I Cultural Arts and Enrichment Program. Located in the heart of Baltimore City, Visions I has been a corner fixture on Greenmount Avenue under the leadership and vision of Desiree Kellam.
Visions I is a spiritual-based, community driven program. We believe in reaching first, the future, our young people. Each year Visions I holds a dance program and a summer camp as well as activities throughout the year such as, paint parties, movie nights, back to school drives, Easter extravaganza, prom dresses donations, women empowerment, mentoring and much more. But this is only the beginning.
In order to provide more resources for children as well as families in the community, Visions I has expanded its territory! The vision has expanded to include more space to provide opportunities such as GED classes, tutoring, computer skills, job preparations, affordable daycare, etc. The work has begun but we need 100 people or more to donate $100 or more to help bring this vision to fruition! It takes a village to raise a child and to bring about change, so please join our village by donating today!!!
