Undocumented Tales is a youtube series that follows the story of Fernando Gutierrez, Fernando has two secrets: He is an undocumented immigrant and he is in the closet. Fernando constantly lies to society about his legal status  and lies to his family about his queer identity. Fernando is not the typical Hollywood stereotyped immigrant, Fernando along with all of the characters in the series are human beings. They laugh, they cry, the celebrate life, they exist!!!

Hello! My name is Armando Ibañez, I am writing and directing this web-series. As an immigrant and queer filmmaker, I want to see untold stories on the screen. It is my responsibility to create work that will change the perceptions people have about undocumented immigrants; this would be an amazing opportunity to educate people about my community. 

Usually, we’re stereotyped as victims and other aspects of our lives are never shown. Despite all the barriers and obstacles we face, we still have dreams and goals. We keep going, we keep fighting, no matter what (that’s all we can do, really).

I want to talk about topics that intersect, including: immigration, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, family acceptance and racism. All of these topics are important and I think my web-series is a good opportunity to have an impact and change the narrative of undocumented, queer, Latinx immigrants, especially for those with different backgrounds and identities from us.

I have created the first two seasons (now available on our YouTube channel) with the help of friends and colleagues. There has been more than 200 people involved in the making of the first two seasons. No one has been paid a single cent, it has all been voluntary. All of the production has come out from my own pocket and it would be extremely hard to continue shooting without any financial help. I would like to continue working on this project and be able to shoot a third new season with your help. This is why we ask you to be part of our team, please make a pledge what you can and help us expand our message!  

We have developed a very limited budget. We need to shoot 7 more episodes with a low budget. These funds will be used to cover the following expenses:

- To rent equipment like cameras, SD cards, hard drives, lights, sound equipment.

- To provide stipends to cast and crew. Talent and crew have been working really hard without charging a single penny. Labor shouldn’t go unpaid.

-To buy food for the cast & crew during filming days.

-Location fees, film permits, insurance, travel expenses such as gas and parking.

-Production design. Food, uniforms, props.

-Post-production: Music, graphics, photos, editing labor.

-Distribution.

Undocumented Tales es una serie para youtube que sigue la historia de Fernando Gutiérrez. Fernando tiene dos secretos: es un inmigrante indocumentado y también vive en el closet. Fernando constantemente le miente a la sociedad sobre su estatus legal y le miente a su familia acerca de su identidad y orientación sexual. Fernando no es el típico inmigrante estereotipado de Hollywood, Fernando y todos los personajes de la serie son seres humanos. Ellos ríen, lloran, celebran la vida, ellos existen !!!

¡Hola! Mi nombre es Armando Ibáñez, estoy escribiendo y dirigiendo este serie. Como un cineasta migrante LGBTQ, me gustaria ver historias no contadas en la pantalla. Es mi responsabilidad crear un trabajo que va a cambiar la percepción que tiene la gente acerca de los inmigrantes indocumentados; esto sería una gran oportunidad para educar a la gente acerca de nuestra comunidad.

Por lo general, estamos estereotipados como víctimas y otros aspectos de nuestras vidas nunca se muestran. A pesar de todas las barreras y obstáculos que enfrentamos, tenemos sueños y metas. Seguimos adelante, seguimos luchando y existiendo, sin importar lo que nos pase, porque desafortunadamente no tenemos otra opción.

Quiero hablar de los temas que se cruzan, entre ellos: la inmigración, la xenofobia, la homofobia, la transfobia, la aceptación familiar y el racismo. Todos estos temas son importantes y creo que esta serie es una buena oportunidad para marcar un impacto y cambiar la narrativa de los inmigrantes indocumentados, Latinx, sobre todo para los que tienen diferentes orígenes e identidades como nosotros.

Esta web-series estaría disponible en Youtube para que  todos puedan verla. He creado ya dos temporadas (ahora disponibles en nuestro canal de YouTube) con la ayuda de amigos y colegas. Han habido más de 200 personas que hicieron posible  la realización de estas dos primeras temporadas. Nadie ha recibido un solo centavo, todo ha sido ayuda voluntaria. Toda los gastos de producción han salido de mi propio bolsillo y sería extremadamente difícil seguir grabando sin ninguna ayuda financiera. Me gustaría seguir trabajando en este proyecto y poder filmar la tercera temporada. Es por eso que ahora necesitamos que ustedes se unan a nuestro equipo, haciendo una donacion. Les pedimos que por favor donen lo que pueda y nos ayuden a expandir nuestro mensaje!

Hemos desarrollado un presupuesto muy limitado. Tenemos que filmar 7 nuevos episodios más. Necesitamos fondos que serán utilizados para cubrir los siguientes gastos:

- Para rentar o comprar equipos como cámaras, tarjetas SD, discos duros, luces, equipo de sonido.

- Para compensar Reparto y Personal. El talento y el equipo han estado trabajando muy duro sin cobrar un solo centavo. El trabajo no debe irse sin pagar.

-Para Comprar comida para el elenco y demás personal.

-Para pagar permisos de filmación y aseguranza para el equipo.

-Pagar locaciones. Honorarios, gastos de viaje, como gasolina y el aparcamiento.

-Diseño de producción. Alimentos, uniformes, utilería.

-Post-Producción: música, gráficos, fotos. Costos de labor para edicion.
