FundRaising for Unexpected Death

My Grandmother Udine Philbert passed away unexpectedly on 1 April 2018 due to a house fire. She was 85 and even at that age she was the rock of the family. As a single mother from Trinidad she migrated to the U.S. and settled in New York to build a life and opportunities for her children. She spent 85 years living independently, sharing wisdom, loving God and screaming at TV court shows, Judge Judy was her favorite.

Through my high school years she worked as a hotel housekeeper and saved every penny she earned. When I was in the 10th grade she took the little that she had and brought me my first car. I remember a story from the Bible about Jesus washing the feet of his disciples to show them servant leadership through example, this was a story that highlighted the story of my grandmothers life.

If you know anything about West Indian cuisine you know how good it is! Especially Curry Chicken with Roti. Grandma was a home economics and etiquette teacher in Trinidad so she always cooked the best food and made sure that we used the correct utensils to eat each portion of the meal.

We use to enjoy teasing her accent especially when she tried to say peninsula and it came out “Penn-in-swela”.  She loved life and was a blessing. We miss her dearly and pray for her soul in heaven.

Any support rendered will go towards funeral/ memorial expenses, travel costs, lost wages, fire clean-up & required equipment and unexpected expenses as she did not have a sufficient life insurance policy in place to manage these cost.
