Send US Deaf Cycling to Taiwan

Please help the United States Deaf Cycling Association (USDCA) by sending 4 cyclists to Taiwan for the 2014 Tour de Formosa. The past 3 Tours de Formosa have been like Tour de France, except for Deaf riders. However, this year, hearing groups are invited to join us. Deaf racers and hearing racers will be scored separately, but this will provide an opportunity to see both sides cooperate and compete.

You may read more about the tour requirements here (Tour de Formosa 2014). As you can see, we're taking one team of 4 cyclists and 2 officials this year to Taiwan. We're very excited and honored to have them represent USA this time around. The tour host is generously covering the ground transportation, accommodations, and food in the duration of the trip, however, there are still additional costs to cover.

Each athlete will need about $2500 to cover the following fees: registration ($75), UCI license ($175), airfare ($1000), bike box check-in ($250 each way = $500), nutrition for race ($25 / day x 7 race days = $175), 2 jersey tops ($130 each x 2 = $260), and GoFundMe services (7.9% + $0.30 per donation).

Please take the time to read the bio on each athlete below before donating. You are invited to either donate to your favorite rider or to USDCA as a whole team. If you want to donate to a specific person, please select that person in the Wish List below. Otherwise, the donations will be distributed evenly among the team. If an individual meets their total, then the leftovers will be distributed evenly among the team as well.

Trevor Kosa
Location: Washington.
Brief Bio: Cat 2, 2-time Gold Medalist (2001 Rome Deaflympics & 2005 Australia Deaflympics, 1-time Silver Medalist (2005 Australia Deaflympics Cycling), and 2-time Bronze Medalist (2005 Australia Deaflympics Cycling) & (2011 Canada World Deaf Cycling Championship)
Other Sports: 1x Gold Medalist (1993 Bulgaria Deaflympic Swimming)
Previous Tour de Formosa participant: Yes.

Rory Osbrink
Location: California.
Brief Cycling Bio: Cat 3, 1x Deaflympics, 1x World Games. Coming out of retirement!
Other Sports: 2x World Games, 1x PanAm Games in US Deaf Baseball.
Previous Tour de Formosa participant: Yes.

David Officer
Location: Virginia.
Brief Bio: Cat 4 (Goal to get Cat 3 upgrade by end of season), 1x World Deaf Cycling Championships.
Other Sports: 1x World Winter Games for the Deaf - Ice Hockey - Gold Medalist.
Previous Tour de Formosa participant: No.

John Klish
Location: Colorado.
Brief Bio: Cat 2, 2013 Deaflympian Gold Medalist & 2 time Bronze Medalist.
Other Sports: Earned a spot on 2001 Deaflympics Soccer team, declined for academics.
Previous Tour de Formosa participant: Yes.
