HELP SAVE this U.P. Treasure

For over 25 years the Porcupine Press / UP Magazine, a monthly print publication, has brought laugher, humorist stories and reports from back in the day, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, eh!
By golly, the present economy has drained our piggy banks, smashed our wallets flat and left us considering pan-handling. Then we were told to buck up, go out of our comfort zone and share our tears with the people on this web site.
Forget what the people in Washington are telling us, we know better, many people in this country are hurting. Many of our readers have found themselves; either out of work, working part time, or whatever, and that money coming in does not match the needs of the money required for the basics. This has put us in the same boat, with only one paddle, and we have been just going around in circles. Lately we have just run aground, we have three issues printed, another ready to print, and the post office wants money in advance, to mail those issues. The printer has also expressed the need to pay his bills and feed his family and would like very much to see a payment on our bill. Our readers come first, so we have placed these issues on our web site - www.upmag.net so those with computers can get their needed rations, or fix, for free, while we are waiting for all our cost cutting measures to catch up with our current needs. That means anybody can cruise through these issues and we invite you to do just that. Then think about getting a subscription for yourself or to fill out that Christmas gift list. The biggest thing we need right now, to get us floating on an even keel, is some present cash flow.
We are confident that we can come out of this storm and be back in calm waters with the goal we have set up for this request for help. We need to mail the already printed issues and get the next issue printed to regain the confidence of our readers. They do not want a digital magazine and we do not want to go that way either. We have raised our cover price and subscription price at the beginning of this month, but that will not help right away. With your help of a donation to meet this goal we can keep this print magazine, a U.P. Treasure, alive and well. Any amount will be gratefully appreciated.
We have never felt comfortable asking for something and then not able to give something back in return. With the Christmas Season upon us, and gift giving on everybody's mind, we are offering our, 100 full color pages, with over 300 recipes, with a retail value of $24.95, "Just Shut UP & Eat It" cook book. With each donation of at least $50, we will ship an autographed copy.
We are not sinking, we are only low in the water, and if you can help in any way, it would be much appreciated by us and readers, who really want us to keep being able to put printed issues in their hands, every month. With thousands of dollars in overhead costs, we have cut, we will be riding high again, once we bail ourselves out of this present problem. The amount we are seeking is all we need to be in solid shape again.
Since we have gotten over a hundred new subscribers in the last month, and that has really helped, but we need a lot more to offset the people who are telling us how they love our magazine, and will renew their subscription when they can afford to. We are sure many will return, but in the mean time, we need your help . . . please!
Many people are praying for us and we have placed our trust in God, that if it is His will, we will find the way to keep this ship afloat, in print. Since Jesus proved He could walk on water, we are making the same effort, stepping out of our boat and believing we can walk across the water, to the safety of the shore.
