Hello friends!
As alumni of the greatest university in the world we all
took pride in community service and giving back as undergraduates. Here is your chance to continue that as an alum!
On Sunday, November 16, 2014 Whyl Inc., will be hosting its first community outreach initiative called “Sandwich Run #UNCHomecoming Edition #WHYLStyle". Founded by a fellow UNC alum, Jillian Griffith, the Sandwich Run Project is an outreach initiative aimed at feeding citizens of local, underserved communities, nationwide, whom struggle to consistently provide meals for themselves and their families.
We are looking for undergraduates and alumni, like YOU, to help us reach our goal of packing and delivering 300+ lunch bags throughout the Triangle Area. All remaining monetary donations will go towards helping University Soup Kitchen purchase a vehicle for their weekly food distribution! University Soup Kitchen is a non-profit started by UNC alum Josh Bridges and has agreed to help distribute sandwiches in the Durham area as well! The event will be held in the Venture Lab at 173 E Franklin St Chapel Hill, NC 27516 from 11:00AM-2:00PM. Volunteers will be separated into 2 groups for a 2-hour preparation session and then optional distribution session. If you’re interested in helping out, there are a few ways to get involved:
· Donate! Donations will be used to purchase all of the necessary supplies needed for the event to run smoothly. We are asking for a minimum donation of $10 but please feel free to help as much as you'd like. Leave a comment with a shoutout to your class for all to see and the class with the greatest participation will receive a special prize!
· Volunteer! If you are willing to assist on the day of the event please fill out this short survey: http://goo.gl/forms/WNZ9ri5Rsg
o If you are willing to help put together sandwiches please indicate on the registration form
o If you are willing to deliver food on foot in Chapel Hill or Carrboro please indicate on the form
