GEAUX COLTON'S TIGER BOWL GOAL

There has been an incredible outpouring of support for Colton and his family in recent months, starting with LSU’s Head Coach inviting him to visit Tiger Stadium, which was a dream come true for Colton to be able to spend time with Coach O. Since then, the community has come together to make another dream for Colton and his family possible by raising enough money to put a payment down toward a handicap accessible van for his family. That fundraiser raised nearly $22,000! The family is so grateful for the love and support from everyone who donated to it and for those who shared Colton’s story.

Now, United Cajun Navy is asking for your help again. We think this family is more than deserving of not just a down payment, but to have enough funds to cover the entire vehicle and accessories! We are asking our friends, the LSU community, and Cajun Nation to come together to make this last stretch toward the cost of a safe and reliable wheelchair accessible vehicle for Colton and his family!

Back Story: Colton is a 9-year-old boy from Alabama. He was born with Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele, the most severe type of Spina Bifida. Colton has undergone 38 surgeries in his 9 years of life and more on the horizon. In addition to his need for a wheelchair, Colton also has hydrocephalus, a feeding tube for continuous feeds to combat severe hypoglycemia, a tracheotomy, and is ventilator dependent at night. He has severe scoliosis that doctors have been working to adjust through numerous surgeries, like his upcoming operation on March 3rd. Colton is wheelchair bound due to the severity of his condition, but that doesn’t stop Colton from living his life with a positive spirit and love for life! Despite all of the medical battles Colton faces, he is an incredible joy to anyone he meets. His charismatic charm and die-hard LSU sports team commitment and loving personality is an inspiration and a reminder of resiliency and true courage.

When Colton began watching Coach O and the LSU Tigers games and YouTube videos his mom never imagined that eventually they would have a chance to meet the Coach that caught Colton's attention. Colton’s back to school picture is where it all started. He went to his mom, and told her to make sure Coach O got a copy of his picture. Not knowing how to make Colton’s request happen, Jennifer posted it on Facebook and told her friends and family to get it to Coach O. Well, they did and so the journey for Colton with the LSU Tigers began. And now, after some amazing people contributed to Colton’s goals, the family is headed to the big game and have a substantial amount to apply toward the wheelchair accessible vehicle they desperately need!

Colton was scheduled for his 39th surgery on January 14th, but with the National Championship game being held on January 13th the same day he would have been at the hospital for his pre-op, Colton made a request to his parents and doctors to delay the surgery so that he could cheer on his favorite team, especially since Colton has been such a good luck charm for our LSU Tigers! They rescheduled his surgery so that Colton could watch his team WIN the trophy in person! His surgery has been rescheduled for March the 3rd just a few days before his 10th Birthday!

Colton’s mom and dad are dedicated and loving parents who would do anything for their children. They feel very blessed by the support from their friends, family and community. Colton has 4 siblings; Kasen who is 17, Carter is 13, Clara is 11, and Colton’s little brother Cruze who is 2 years old.

This busy family is constantly on the go. Whether it’s doctors' appointments for Colton or checkups for his siblings, baseball games, school or other family activities outside of the house, they are always on the road headed somewhere. Which is why United Cajun Navy would love to step in and try to help them relieve some of the financial stress caused by the expensive purchase of a special needs vehicle that fits their large family and busy schedule where Colton can easily get in and out in his wheelchair.

The community has risen together for this family, and we hope they will rise again to get them to the end zone for Colton’s Tiger Bowl Goal! This amazing family is so deserving and would be incredibly grateful to have a vehicle that they could feel safe and comfortable in. If they had the wheelchair accessible vehicle, Colton’s upcoming surgery on the 3rd of March, and the transporting of Colton and his family to and from surgery and post-op appointments, would be a dream come true for them.

Colton’s family is just the kind of family that despite the obstacles they face medically and financially, continue to pay it forward to others by offering support, kindness and their son’s brilliant laughter and smile to others. And we know that they would love for Colton’s story to inspire people to look where they can help those with disabilities and special equipment needs like Colton.

Please help us get this family to their goal!
