Have you ever felt like you took one step forward, only to get knocked three steps back?
While at Starbucks to work on a writing fellowship application two weeks ago, my Macbook Pro was stolen. After speaking with multiple Starbucks representatives and the police, it has become clear that it's unretrievable. :(
I am raising money to purchase a new laptop, so that I can continue to pursue my dreams and enrich the lives of those around me.
For the last year, I have used my laptop to apply for jobs, write articles on my blog, TyreeBP.com, and HuffPost Black Voices , begin writing my first book, professionally edit photos, and pursue other multimedia projects. After my laptop was stolen, I was devastated not only because of the material loss, but because of all the hard work that was lost along with it.
Why I Need Your Help
Due to extenuating financial circumstances, I am not in a position to purchase a new computer on my own. I currently work part-time and need a laptop in order to continue searching for full-time employment.
Writing is my livelihood. And to have my laptop stolen from me literally sets me back ten steps. Without my laptop, I can no longer pursue my dream of becoming a journalist, writer, scholar, and community leader. Through my writing and social media presence, I aim to build useful resources and platforms for people of color to engage around their ideas and experiences. But without this valuable workstation, I am prohibited from producing quality content that I can use to mobilize and engage people around social issues, such as police brutality, faith, and politics.
And that's why I am earnestly seeking your help. If you have anything to contribute, I would greatly appreciate it.
