memorial for Ty Ziegel, an American Hero

Donation protected

On December 22 2004, Ty was on his second tour to Iraq when a suicide bomber attacked his convoy's troop truck, leaving his life in pieces (literally). Of the seven men on board, Ty took the hardest hit. Not only did Ty fight for this country he gave more than most us could ever give. He lost his left hand, part of his skull, 3 right hand fingers, his ears, nose, eye lids and sadly his face was taken as well, as it was engulfed by flames leaving him unrecognizable to friends and family. After 18 months of physical therapy and recovery he was back to the Ty we all know and love only still unrecognizable. Ty became an inspiration to all that knew him! Most of us would have wanted to just give up and die however Ty was a fighter! Soon later Ty started to have a normal life, with is best friend Dobbs (his dog), his caring family and friends. Things were all looking up for him. Sadly on Christmas 2012 he slipped and fell on ice while with fellow military friends. Leaving him fighting for his life once again. After an hour of life saving attempts Ty sadly passed away. A true American hero was gone.

We are setting this fund up in honor of Ty for the Fisher House Organization and to help his grieving family. This is where Ty spent 18 months recovering from his injuries.
