What is it like to love someone from a different culture?
What is it like to want to be liked and accepted by his people? What do you
keep, and what do you let go, as you adapt to another place?
These are some of the questions we are asking in our film, Turkish of the Bride/Gelinin Türkçesi because we know women who live with parts of their hearts on the other side of the ocean. This is a documentary film about straddling two different worlds, and love in its many forms. Love for one's life partner, as well the love our women feel for their families, traditions, and countries they left behind.
We're applying to grants and sponsorships to make this film a reality, and we need to show these funding organizations that we are serious about this documentary. With your help, we will create a demo video, which will show a sampling of our work so far, and demonstrate that we have a community excited to see us complete this project.
We need $4,800 to finish the demo video. This is a small part of the film's overall budget, and once we have it, we'll be able to attract more funding. With every donation we receive from you -our friends and close circle- the more we are likely to receive funding from foundations and corporations. (As we are currently in the process of getting official Non-Profit status, your gifts are not tax deductible at this time.)
We are providing some examples of what your donations can do, but of course, all contributions matter, and there is the "different amount" option you can choose. All contributors who can give $150 or more will be recognized in the credits with a special thank you reserved for first backers.
