We started a "Turkey" fundraiser 6 years ago with hopes of helping a couple less fortunate families from Holy Family Church. Year one, we accomplished our goal of helping 20 familes have an amazing Thanksgiving dinner. Fast forward 6 years and I'm EXCITED beyond belief to say that we reached over 750 families last year. My goal this year is 1000 FAMILIES!!
How we do it??? Through a lot of phone calls, driving, and social media posts. Mostly through connections with local businesses, friends, and family.
In short, through GENEROUS people like yourself making donations of money or frozen turkeys (I personally pick up the birds with in a 30 mile radius and take pictures with a couple of very cool turkey hats and post all over Facebook).
100% of proceeds go to needy families throughout the entire state!!! With our rapid growth over a short time, we have extended our efforts to now include: Multiple churches throughout the area, Branford Food Pantry, Department of Children and Families, Operation Hope, and Bridgeport Rescue. This list will continue to grow as we do!!
The fundraising will begin after Halloween and continue until 4 days prior to Thanksgiving.
I reminisce of how we started this and where we are today. How many amazing pictures and letters I receive from Children and their parents. I honestly can not think of anything that s more rewarding. So it isn't a question of why I do this? Its more the question, why haven't I been doing this longer?
I thank you for your participation. I post every donation I get on Facebook for all to see. Its amazing to watch the giving spirit and how contagious it truly is!!
HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!
