Vet Bill Tunica Humane Society

Since September of 2012, the Tunica Humane Society has faced mounting vet bills because their budget was slashed in half. Because they have taken in dogs that are very ill, or needed heartworm treatment or surgery, this shelter's vet bills have been staggering, sometimes ranging between $10,000-$15,000 per month.   A budget battle took a bite out of the funding for the only animal shelter in Tunica, MS. The county slashed the Tunica Humane Society's money in half, from $50,000 to $25,000 yearly, yet they have managed to maintain their no-kill shelter housing up to 120 dogs and a dozen cats.

Founded in August 2008 by Sandy Williams and her sister, Gail Johnson, this shelter depends on their many volunteers, sponsors, donors and fosters who have been such a blessing over the years.

The Tunica Humane Society is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions to The Tunica Humane Society are tax-deductible.
