My name is Amy Elmquist Hartsoch, I am
David’s older sister.
On February 9th, 2018, just 8 hrs after
telling my parents that he wanted a
divorce (after just 11 months of marriage),
that his wife was manipulative and that his marriage was toxic, and just 50 min after
texting my dad about his plans for the next day, my beloved brother was engulfed in
flames. “Suicide” is what we were told …

For 4 years, I have supported my father as
he has spent countless hours fighting
behind the scenes for answers and truth to
David’s horrific death. Immediately it
appeared that the police wanted to brush
David’s death under the rug to hide their
egregious mistake of refusing to let the firemen go inside to help David for 38 min!!
Because of a recent FIRST ever mental
breakdown - (David experienced psychosis and spent 10 days in a mental hospital)- it
appears that there was a rush to judgment and they assumed that this was just a crazy man who lit himself on fire. They turned a
blind eye to the missing lighter, inconsistent
accounts of the events of that night given
by his wife and most troubling was that
ONLY the insides of David’s wrists were
completely spared from accelerant and
flames! And the only reason his protected wrists were discovered is because my dad ordered his burned sons autopsy photos.
Please really think about that for a min. A
father instinctively knowing/believing something was very wrong, so he ordered the
autopsy photos, poured over the most
gruesome photos of his beloved child, and
then discovered these 2 distinct protected areas and then there is NO MENTION OF
THEM in the autopsy report!!!!!
Had professionals thoroughly and honestly done their jobs, we would not be in the
place we are in today.
We are beginning an aggressive campaign
to demand that the MN Attorney General, Keith Ellison, and MN Governor Tim Walz,
appoint an outside prosecutor to examine my brothers death, just like they did for
George Floyd’s death. That is all we are
asking for - an independent, thorough,
unbiased investigation, outside of the
jurisdiction of Hennepin County.
Every dollar given to this campaign will be
used to further our cause in seeking
answers and justice to David’s death. We
will be transparent in how we are using
every single dollar - legal fees, billboards,
advertising, etc. Should excess funds be
raised, we will donate every excess dollar
to mental health, domestic violence, and
victim advocacy causes.
We cannot do this alone! This is a real life
“David vs Goliath” story and we need your help, support and prayers.
Please adopt David as your friend, brother, uncle, son and come along side our family
as we fight for answers and truth.
