Truck for Hope

Tax deductible
The Mission

Imagine being six years old and almost all you know of life is hunger.  Every day you watch the adults laboring for basic needs and searching for food.

Now imagine that one day life suddenly changes.  People arrive with food and supplies.  Your whole world is looking more positive as you see the changes they are bringing.  Life has arrived from some distant place below the mountain.  Food, education, and fun brighten your horizon. There is a smile on everyone's faces.

Now imagine that fading away to a trickle.  Imagine the fear that this aid will disappear and everything will return to hunger and hopelessness.

Now imagine what your support can do.

Together we can help change the future for that six year old and many other children on that mountain.

My name is Naomi and I have been a missionary in Honduras for 6 years.  I work with the extremely impoverished indigenous tribe Tolupan.

The Tolupan people are located in the remote central mountains of Honduras. The tribe lives as some of the poorest people in the country.  They range from slightly to severely malnourished, with some dying each year from starvation.

The Feeding Center

This year we opened a feeding center for children.  The center feeds 65 little ones a vitamin and protein enriched meal 3 days a week.  Along with food, we offer help with their studies, encouraging and aiding their education.  For most of these children the meal they receive at our center will be the only substantial meal they will eat all day.

Transportation

It is very difficult to reach the children on this remote mountain.   There are no buses or taxis and only 4x4 trucks can pass through the 4 rivers and steep, muddy terrain.  For the past year I have struggled to find transportation.  I have taken any opportunity to get to the mountain, but these opportunities have become less and less frequent.

How You Can Help

It is now urgent that we get a 4x4 truck to bring food, supplies and volunteers up to these children.  65 little lives depend on it.

Cars and trucks in Honduras are imported from the U.S. Shipping costs and taxes significantly raise the price of these vehicles.  $8,000  would allow me to purchase a very used 4x4 pick-up truck.

Please consider donating and giving hope to the Tolupan children.   Midway Ministries is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization.  For more information please visit:  www.midwayministries.com
