Get Lee-Anne an Adapted Trike

Donation protected

If you wanted to start cycling you could pop down to Argos or Halfords and grab a bicycle for ~£100. Unfortunately, as a disabled person, I can't do that. The product I need to start cycling is going to cost £5,505. The discrepancy between these prices is wild to me! I cannot afford that! That's why I'm asking for your help. I can pay £1000 towards the trike, but I need your help to get me to my goal.

My Story
I grew up cycling here, there and everywhere. I loved going cycling with my dad. It's a wonderful way to connect with the world around you and really feel alive in yourself. But years ago I stopped cycling because it had started to really hurt my joints and the pain was too much.
Since then my health has worsened. I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia with elements of Chronic Fatigue, as well as Hypermobile Joint Disorder and POTs (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). All of this has meant that I am now disabled. If walking anywhere I use a rollator for assistance but more and more I'm using my powerchair whenever I am outside of the house. I love my powerchair, it's great! It's given me a lot of freedom. But I really miss moving my body, and in particular, cycling. So I did some research into adapted bicycles and cycling.
I discovered that semi-recumbent tricycles exist and I was keen to try some out! So I booked a demo with Tomcat Trikes  and fell in love with their Electric Bullet .

Why this trike?
The Tomcat Electric Bullet has an electric assist which takes most of the pressure off of my joints as well as conserving the limited energy I have.
The position of the seat takes further pressure off of my knees and hips. The style of the seat means I am in a resting position - reducing my fatigue.
Having 3 wheels instead of 2 means that I don't have to worry about balance if I start to feel dizzy or fatigued. It gives me extra security and safety.
I've opted for the Two Piece frame which means it comes apart at the middle for easier storage. This is because I live in rented accommodation and want to guarantee I will always be able to store it in the house safely.
I have also opted for the wider seat with higher back for -AHEM- extra support.

When do I need the money?
I need to raise the funds by the end of August as this is when the estimated completion date is. I will then arrange delivery, setup and training.
The trike costs £5,505 but I've added a bit extra to try and cover the fees associated with gofundme.

What this will mean for me
Your support will massively improve my quality of life. I will be able to do some light exercise, benefiting both my mental and physical health. At the moment there are very limited exercise options for me and cycling is the perfect way for me to build strength safely. I'm tired of spending all my time trapped indoors. Being able to get out in the fresh air and explore nature has always made me feel amazing and with your help I can enjoy that again.
I will be so so grateful for anything you can do to support my goal. Thank you to everyone that's able to donate! And if you can't, can you please ask a friend to? Actually, even if you can donate, can you also ask a friend to?
