Transporting the community to better health #dunns

Donation protected
As many of you may know, there is a new transportation service coming to town. Starting completely from the ground up, with the help and support of our community. So, what kind of service are we talking about here? Non-Emergency Medical Transportation, one of the biggest barriers to healthcare access. Studies show “3.6 million individuals forgo medical care each year due to transportation issues including lack of vehicle access. In fact, for older adults, transportation is the third most cited barrier to accessing health services.” That’s where we come in..

DunnsNEMT is focused on breaking that barrier for our diverse community. We want to give Ms. Jenkins a ride to her dialysis appointments every week so she can have more time with her grandchildren. We want to take Mr. Smith to his pulmonary rehab gym so he can exercise his new lungs. We want to take little Alex to his family reunion in the comfort of his own wheelchair. We are a business that strives for independence, reliability, satisfaction, and trust.

Who and what is “Dunns”??? Dunns NEMT is named after the CEO/Founder Christopher Dunn. Chris has over 30 years of EMS experience that allows him to truly understand the need and demand for this type of service. In a recent interview, Chris was asked to describe himself in the eyes of his colleagues. He listed hardworking, reliable, and trusting. Everything you would want from a professional. But when asked to describe himself, he mentioned being a blessed, loving father and husband.

It is the start of a movement and community that will change the way Non-Emergency Medical Transportation is thought of. Our trained professionals with decades of experience and team leaders, can provide the most reliable and honest transportation in New London County.

How can you help?  DunnsNEMT is a few steps short from opening its door to the community. We will be funded by an SBA loan. SBA loans provide financial assistance to small businesses. It helps protect and promote small businesses in the larger economy. With that being said, SBA finances 90% of a project. The cost of starting this journey is $380,000. SBA will finance 90% of that ($342,000). The 10% would be $38,000 and that is where we are looking for support from the community with donations of any amount to help us reach our goal in providing a much-needed resource to YOU. The additional $30,000 shows that the business has sufficient cash/liquidity to cover the debt during the first year. $30,000 would cover about 8 payments without any revenue from the business, putting us in a stable position to be successful. A total goal of $70,000.

We as a family and community, want to share our gratitude and appreciation to any potential donors helping our family to serve you and your family. To help get the word out, you can share this link to any social media platform. Our DunnsNEMT family of dedicated professionals truly thanks you!!!

**With future successes, DunnsNEMT plans on creating a hall of dedication plaques for each individual donor. The plaque is a way of showing our appreciation to those who support us. This hall will be a daily reminder of the people that helped build a better, healthier community. **
