Training Ground Discipleship Program

Friends and family:

This summer, I have the awesome opportunity to participate in a 12-week discipleship program in Colorado Springs, CO. The program is called Training Ground, and it stands on the pillars of work, wilderness, and worship.

Work- I will be working a 40-hour/week manual labor job, most likely in construction. The purpose of this is to develop discipline and to see the results of hard work. Training Ground believes that men can learn many lessons through engaging in the physical world around them.

Wilderness- The success of a man cannot be based solely upon performance and results. Training Ground offers young men the chance to experience the wilderness and learn while doing so. We will be going on several adventures including hiking, canoeing, hunting, and fly-fishing trips.

Worship- The goal of Training Ground is to focus on God, and to use the summer as a chance to decide who I want to be for the rest of my life. I will be surrounded by eight other guys, as well as several older mentors who will be pushing me in my faith on a daily basis. There are also frequent speakers who will share parts of their life with us, as well as how their faith impacted their lives.

Overall, this summer is a chance for me to become who I want to be. Since I started taking my faith seriously, I have always had my friends around me encouraging me. As I graduate college, the thought of no longer having those relationships in close proximity really scares me. Although some of these things may be a long way off, I'm hoping that this summer shows me how to be a man of God as a person who has a career, a wife, a mortgage, or even children.

With all that said, the program itself is not free. They need to pay for speakers, housing, equipment, insurance, as well as countless other expenses. Each accepted member is required to pay $3,000, which is only a fraction of what the total cost should be. As a poor college student, I do not have too much disposable income, and that is where I was hoping you could come in. I am hoping to raise my deposit through your support. Even the smallest donation would help, and if you can't support me financially, your prayers for my experience this summer would mean so much. Thank you all!
