Let's help Pawit and Sokha (Top It owners)!

If you ever go to Top It frozen yogurt, you probably know and love the owners, Pawit and Sokha Numnuan. Many people also know this wonderful couple from the decade they spent running Pawit’s Royale Thai Cuisine. They have been members of our community for the last 17 years. Sokha came to Utah from Cambodia and Pawit came from Thailand. They met in Salt Lake City and were married in 2002 in the Salt Lake temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Always working side-by-side, they have been amazing examples of generosity, providing schools in Thailand with drinking water, sports equipment, copy machines, roofing supplies, blankets, and food. They have blessed so many families with their kindness and are much more comfortable giving than receiving.

But late last year, Sokha had emergency heart surgery that left her in a coma. Pawit visited her every day and prayed for a miracle. After three months and ten days, Sokha regained consciousness, surprising all of the doctors and nurses. She is currently in a care facility and is able to breathe on her own for 4-5 hours a day. She can respond to Pawit's questions by shaking or nodding her head and he knows that Sokha understands what he is saying. She is not yet able to speak but Pawit is hopeful and continues to show great faith, in spite of the long road they have ahead of them.

Many loyal customers and friends have helped keep Top It open. Pawit is deeply grateful for everyone who has covered shifts and contributed money. He wants to spend as much time with Sokha as possible, which makes it difficult for him to maintain the long hours that he and Sokha previously dedicated to running their business. He is trying to do his job, her job, and take care of her. Months of medical bills have taken a huge financial and emotional toll. Working whenever he can tear himself away from Sokha and somehow surviving on very little sleep, Pawit has finally agreed to accept online donations. Many customers have been asking each other how they can help share this ongoing burden. Now, with almost all of their relatives still in Thailand and Cambodia, we have an opportunity to show Pawit and Sokha that their friends and neighbors here consider them part of an honorary extended family.

Please consider a donation to help Pawit cover the ongoing medical expenses of Sokha’s full-time care. We want to surprise them with an outpouring of love and support that they are not expecting but definitely need and absolutely deserve!
