Growing up you believe, as a child, that everyone is invincible. Your parents, your grandparents even your big brother. As many of you know our family was rocked to the core on December 10th, 2017. My brother, Tony, was diagnosed with a form of non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It was not revealed until a trip to Johns Hopkins hospital he has what is called Burkitts lymphoma. This is a very rare and very aggressive fast moving type of lymphoma.  With more conventional chemo you receive a treatment one day every 3 weeks (like Tony's first treatment in Lancaster) 6 times or so. Tony's has 4 treatments each lasting 28 days that are as agressive as his cancer.  He must now stay in Baltimore because he can not travel more than 40 miles away and gets treatments at the hospital 7 days a week until the end of April.  Johns Hopkins offers housing at the Hackerman - Patz Pavilion right across the street from the Kimmel Cancer Center where he receives his treatments.  Hackerman Patz is designed for families experiencing what we are and is within a 5 minute walk of Tony's treatments.  Housing at the Hackerman-Patz Pavilion is $64 a day for what we expect to be around 100 days.   We are asking for support to help offset those housing costs from our amazing friends and family during this time, If you can't support a monetary donation please support by prayers and positive thoughts. My brother would also like to share with you his story from his perspective:

If you want to make God laugh...  Tell him your plans.

If you would have given me 50 guesses of where I would be right now Johns Hopkins or the hospital wouldn't have been on the list.  But, our job is to make the best hand of the cards we are dealt in life and that's what I am doing.

For those that know me well, you know Asking for help isn't something that comes easy for me.  But this journey I started a short time ago has already taught me many things and I am sure will teach many more as we continue on. I am learning that asking for help doesn't mean you aren't strong enough or can't handle something, it means you are fortunate enough to have a support structure in place to catch you when you stumble.  The support structure that is behind my family is amazing and has been a huge help in getting us this far. We have a few speed bumps in the road ahead as we continue on the journey but nothing we can't overcome.   Please continue to send your thoughts and prayers my way I will take all I can get!
