Memorial for my brother Tony

Donation protected
My brother Tony Bjerkness lost his life on December 11, 2017 in a snowmobiling accident on Serpent Lake in Crosby, MN.  He was only 34 years old.  His unexpected death leaves behind his girlfriend Amanda and two beautiful sons, Eli and Colten.

Tony was a caring, loving brother, father and friend.  His humor was contagious - even on your worst days, he could always make you laugh.  I've never seen him more proud than when he became a father to two amazing boys.  He wanted nothing more than to provide his sons with every happiness in the world.  Tony wasn't perfect - he lived life full-throttle, and his path occasionally led him astray.  But he owned his imperfections and worked tirelessly to be a better man, a loving father, a generous and supportive friend.  He was so full of optimism - no matter what obstacles blocked his path, Tony never lost faith that he would triumph in the end.  I pray he knows how proud we all were of him, even in his darkest hours.  His inner strength knew no bounds.

It's never an easy thing, saying goodbye to somebody you love or care about.  And this time is particularly difficult for our family; not only are we reeling from the shock of this unexpected tragedy, but our father is on hospice care with end-stage cancer.   Tony was an amazing man, and I'm asking for your support in providing him with an amazing memorial service.  Our goal is to give Tony a well-deserved funeral in mid-January.  We’re going to need help purchasing and preparing food, costs to rent the church, assistance cleaning up after the service concludes and providing travel assistance to immediate family to enable them to attend.

All proceeds from this campaign will be put towards Tony's final expenses, with the exception of the first $500, which we will use to purchase a few special Christmas gifts for his sons.  Even if you are unable to contribute financially, your sympathy and kindness mean so much to our family.  Your kind words, love, and prayers are such comfort in this time of grief and sadness.

Tony... you and I have competed all our lives.  From bike and sled races when we were kids, to motorcycles and cars as adults, you always kept me on my toes.  Being your brother has made me a better man.  But there's one thing we've never had to compete for - the love that you and I have shared.  I will miss you more than I can say. Rest easy, baby brother.  Life will never be the same, and our hearts will always be with you.
