Tom & Debbie's Apt Fire Fund

Thanks for stopping by our page. We are Thomas and Debbie, US citizens that have recently relocated to Vancouver, BC from Los Angeles, CA with our cat Pickles. We are in the entertainment/VFX field and have been loving Vancouver's beauty so far.
On Tuesday morning, March 29th, a large fire broke out in our next door neighbor's apartment. We were able to escape with Pickles and our nearby neighbor's gave us water, shoes, and jackets. Later that day, we were able to briefly walk through and grab what we could carry.
We are grateful to be alive and unharmed and thankful for Canada's Emergency Social Services that have put all of the victims and their pets up in a hotel for 3 nights with food. Some of our amazing new friends have already donated or loaned clothes and basic necessities.
Hopefully, we will be able to go in this weekend to go through our belongings and see what is going to be able to be cleaned or at least attempted. Thankfully, we didn't receive any fire damage, just soot and smoke. We will likely lose most of our furniture and a good chunk of our clothing as well as food, medications, toiletries etc. Basically anything that smoke won't come out of. We are thinking good thoughts about our electronics, namely Tom's VFX computer setup.
We are lucky to have friends in the area who have offered us their living rooms until we can find a new place. Unfortunately, Vancouver has a strange apartment situation in that most everyone moves on the 1st of the month (tomorrow). So we likely, won't be able to find a place until May 1st. Additionaly, Debbie is a temp employee at a fabulous company (Demonware) and is scheduled to be out of work starting April 22nd.
The gist of this is that we don't know yet what we will need or when we will need it. Monetary support will go to groceries, bills, pet supplies, and new furniture and clothes. Anything helps, and we would love your prayers.
We are overcome with thankfulness for all that we have already received. For those that know us, we don't need much to be happy, just each other and Miss Pickles. Everything else is a gift. Thank you for your support! We can't even begin to express how much we love you all.
