Voiceover Business

My Story

As many of you know, a little over 2 years ago I found myself unemployed. Thankfully, I was able to find employment 5 months later, but during those 5 long months, I did alot of personal inventory, soul searching, and reflection on my life, my career and the direction I wanted to head.

I have always enjoyed using my voice to enhance projects that I have been involved in. In grade school I narrated classroom plays. In high school I was the announcer for the marching band. As an adult I've done sports commentary/play-by-play and promos for radio, been involved in podcasting, and narrated a variety of projects for my church. So voiceover/voice acting seemed like a natural fit.

My Project

My goal is to build a successful, part-time voiceover business to supplement my income to assist in our ongoing economic recovery from a major reduction in income (over %50).

I've spent the past year learning all I can about the industry, and the processes and techniques required to be a successful voice actor/voiceover talent. I have taken group classes in Nashville, participated in a dozen web-based trainings, and attended a virtual conference. I have installed acoustical treatment in my office at home, and have acquired good quality recording equipment.

All I really have left to do to get started is record a demo (perhaps a second for a different genre), get a website up and running, and begin marketing my services.

What is Voiceover?

From commercials to audiobooks to animation to web videos to on-hold messaging, voiceover takes many forms and genres. Basically if you are hearing a recorded voice on your computer, telephone, radio or television, someone had to perform that recording.

Here is a fun 60 sec description of the voiceover industry. Give a listen (click on the link below):

What YOU Can Do to Help

During my time of unemployment many of you were very kind in expressing your concern, offering prayer and encouragement. Several have shown interest in my new venture into Voiceover.
This has been a difficult year and a half for me, and I am excited about trying something new and having some supplemental income.

Asking for help has never come easy for me, but this is very important to me and my family. So I am asking for you to consider helping this project in a few ways:

Financially - either through this site or privately. Your help will make a big difference in my life and it will be appreciated and never forgotten.

Prayer - Pray for this new venture, for me and my family.

Share - Share this page with people you think would be interested in helping.

Contacts - If your company or organization or someone you know could utilize my services contact me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look this over. I appreciate it very much. Check back and I'll provide updates as things progress.
