As most of you reading this probably know, our son Tanner was born with an extremely rare, neurological, genetic disorder called CDKL5. He cannot now, nor will he likely ever walk or talk. He has CVI meaning he is visually impaired and he has no use of his hands. On Feb. 1 he turned 4 years old but he is 44" tall and weighs 53lbs. He has always been off the charts with height and weight. It is getting more and more difficult for us, his mom and dad, to carry him up and down the stairs and we are running out of additional help in babysitters, nanny's and grandparents, who are already unable to carry him. As difficult of a decision as this has been, we have come to the conclusion that we must look into installing an elevator in our home so Tanner can enjoy his living quarters on all levels of his home. His quality of life is the number 1 most important thing to us and we do not want him confined to only 1 floor at all times. After meeting with an elevator company and their construction company, we have all the details needed to install what we need and nothing more, but the cost will be in the ballpark of $50,000. We need your help! Over time, we are going to have to get a wheelchair accessible van and a wheelchair accessible bathroom and along with the elevator, these projects are simply out of our financial means.
Every year we host our Annual Toasting Tanner Fundraiser and ever year we have surpassed our goal, thanks to ALL OF YOU! Every year in the past the money has been donated to the IFCR and it kills us to have to accept the money ourselves this year, but we simply have no choice. We certainly hope to raise the funds needed and be able to donate everything in years to come at future Toasting Tanner's.
Toasting Tanner will take place this year on August 25th at the Clubhouse in Woodstock Knoll. Same as prior years, tickets will be $100 per person. If you donate money and do not intend to attend the fundraiser, THANK YOU!! If you donate money and INTEND to come, please put a note of that in your comments and I will count that as your RSVP.
