Mumbai Volunteer Trip

Donation protected
Hello everyone!

My name is Tiya and I am a 23 year old professional student. I have my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo, and I am about to enter my second and last year of George Brown College in the Activation Coordinator/Gerontology program.

What is an Activation Coordinator you might ask? Good question! The profession goes by many names: Activation Coordinator, Recreation Aid, and Life Enhancement Assistant, just to name a few. No matter what we are called we all have the same goal, to improve the lives of seniors everywhere through meaningful programs and activities.

Now that you know a bit about me and my future profession, let me tell you more about this campaign!

After an extensive selection process, I have been awarded the opportunity to work abroad in Mumbai India for one month as part of George Brown's study abroad program. We will be going on this adventure from the mid February – mid March 2016 and staying at India's renowned Tata Institute of Studies in Social Sciences (TISS). While in India we will be working with both well seniors and those with severe dementia, five days a week in nursing homes and adult day programs.

This trip will be such a fantastic learning experience for me. One that will humble me, while also improving my abilities in the field once I return to working in Canada.

I would greatly appreciate you sharing my story with your friends and family, and donating what you can. Please help me get to India!
