Tina Galvan-Gilliland Memorial Fund

Sadly, Tina Galvan-Gilliland passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at just 55 years of age from aggressive Renal Cell Carcinoma (kidney cancer), less than 6 months after diagnosis.  Tina was a devoted and loving wife to Don and mother to her two children, Steven and Emily.  Her husband and children were always her number one priority, but she always had time for all her friends and family.  Tina wanted so badly to be here for her kids and fought valiantly to stay with them as long as possible. She said to her husband, just a few days before passing, "Look, I'm not going anywhere. I'll still be around. You just gotta believe."
 
Tina’s creativity and generosity for others is known far and wide. She never hesitated to help others and was always ready with a kind word, compliment, handmade card or crocheted blanket. Even during cancer and chemo, she stayed positive. She brightened up the clinic each time she went for treatment, easing the pain of others. There’s a saying,  "There's always somebody got it worse" and she meant it. Always upbeat and happy, she'd bop in and take her treatments, bringing a smile to the other patients. She truly believed that she had gotten cancer so that somebody who couldn't have handled it was spared.  There wasn't anyone she touched that wasn't made better somehow. To the end, she exhibited the grace and dignity she displayed throughout her life. She always believed that if you follow your heart and believe, that dreams really do come true.


Now her friends and family want to give a final gift to Tina, helping to offset some of the costs associated with her passing and to assist with college expenses for her kids.  Steven is in his first year of college and Emily is only 14 years old – much too young to have their mother taken from them.
