Running for those who risked it all

Donation protected
Our Team consists of an amputee Army paratrooper, a combat medic, a Marine artillery officer, an Army Tank platoon leader, and an Airforce Pararescueman. We are Tillman Scholars  and we are running in the 200 mile Ragnar del Sol race for the Pat Tillman Foundation. We are raising money for future Tillman Scholars so that they can continue in their pursuit of service.

The Pat Tillman Foundation invests in military veterans and their spouses through academic scholarships, building a diverse community of leaders committed to service to the community.

The scholars chosen show extraordinary leadership potential, a true sense of vocation, and a deep commitment to create positive change through their work in the fields of medicine, law, business, education and the arts.

Meet our Tillman Scholars:

Josh Sparling : As a Infantryman/Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, Josh lost his leg in combat in Ramadi Iraq. He is finishing law school to serve the public as a prosecutor.

"For the last two years that I have had the honor of being a scholar, we have built an obstacle course for children, worked in soup kitchens, and made improvements to a women's shelter in Chicago. The foundation is constantly helping us find ways to utilize our skills learned in the military to better the community around us."

Jameson Lopez: Jameson plans to use his military service as a platform to serve as a leader in the education field and influence Native American communities to increase access and attainment in higher education through developing Native American education policies customized to cultural values of the respective Tribes.

Stephen Skiano:
Steve is currently serving as full-time police officer. Stephen is also pursuing his master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University.

Wesley Stiner
: Inspired by the bond and compassion within his unit, Wesley has shifted his focus from combat to the courtroom and currently serves as an advocate in veterans’ treatment courts.

Matthew Randle: Matt is currently serving as a practicing attorney, representing the military and the public in criminal and family matters.

In his life, Pat Tillman made his mark as a husband, teammate, soldier and brother. He believed we should always strive to be part of something bigger than ourselves, and  gave up a multi-million dollar contract to defend our nation. Join us in this challenge with your donation to support other well deserving soldiers.

(The funds donated will  be used to benefit present and future Tillman Scholars) My wife, Laura Sparling, will be responsible for withdrawing the funds and sending them to the Pat Tillman Foundation.
