Thomas Nichols' Kidney Transplant

My husband, Thomas Nichols Jr, was diagnosed with Scleroderma and Malignant Hypertension.
Scleroderma means hard skin. It is a group of diseases that cause abnormal growth of connective tissue. Connective tissue is the material inside your body that gives your tissues their shape and helps keep them strong. In scleroderma, the tissue gets hard or thick. It can cause swelling or pain in your muscles and joints. This disease ultimately shut Thomas's kidneys down and may also later affect other organs. Malignant hypertension is extremely high blood pressure that develops rapidly and can also cause some type of organ damage.
This past October, Thomas entered "end stage renal failure" which means he needs a donor as soon as possible. He is an employee of DOTD and a father of 5 children (Maranda, Benny, Katlin, Karli and Dalton).
We are lucky to have been surrounded by the love and support of friends and family. His brother, Micheal Nichols, has been tested and discovered to be at match for the upcoming kidney transplant at Ochsner of New Orleans around April or May 2018. He has been on Peritoneal dialysis at home since October 2017.
We were told that our insurance would not cover all the expenses of surgery and follow-up visits and are asking for your support. We were thankful for one fund raiser of 2,000+ through his job, but are lacking a balance of about 18,000.00 needed. Since he is a state worker, he doesn't qualify for medicare to help.
