Support my Service Trip to Nicaragua!

Hey everyone! I am very excited to share with you all a great service experience that I have been chosen to be a part of in the upcoming year. In January 2014, I will be traveling down to León, Nicaragua with 15 other Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy students from Quinnipiac to treat children and adults with special needs. As I get ready to begin my final year of the Doctoral program here at Quinnipiac, I look forward to this trip being an opportunity to expand my knowledge as a future healthcare professional.
Service has become a very important aspect of my life and although I still struggle to find ways to better myself as a person, I know that through my service, I can better at least one other persons life in the process. Service is about giving yourself up to walk along side someone through their struggles, distress, and hardships. I recently participated in a Habitat for Humanity service trip down in North Carolina and had the pleasure of helping to build a home for a family in need. The people I met along the way (and the things I have learned) have left me with the craving to do more!
My passion and dream is to work with children with special needs. Although I have had some experience with this sort of "work," this trip will offer me an experience greater than anything elseI could imagine!
This service trip has been a absolute dream of mine since I first heard about it at Quinnipiac because I realized how much this trip truly mirrored the very goals I have and the experiences I would love to look back on in the future. I am inviting you to this page to ask for your support in order for me to be able to a part of this journey. As I enter my 6th year ofschool (3rd year of graduate school) I find myself dipping a littttllleeee low into my funds (low is an understatement.)
Any donation (big or small) is greatly appreciated and would mean the world to me! All donations I receive will go towards my trip costs (which include, airfare, food, and other miscellaneous fees for the trip.) Any extra money that I raise will be put towards buying toys and supplies to bring down with me for the children and families we will be helping!
