The Todd Johnson Cancer Fund

On Christmas Day, 2016, Todd Johnson was admitted to the hospital in a small rural hospital in Appleton, MN with severe back and stomach pain.  They did a CT Scan and saw a suspicious mass that was in his abdomen.  They were very concerned, and wanted to get him a biopsy.  Todd was told that the soonest they could get him in to see an oncologist was January 10th.  Due to the serious nature of the situation, Todd’s sister Erika flew to Minneapolis to try and get him into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN so that answers could be gathered more quickly.  They were successful in getting admitted.   Their worst fears were confirmed when Todd was told he has stage 4 advanced widespread cancer that has metastasized throughout his organs and bones.
Todd and his wife Machelle are devastated with this news.  Both Todd and Machelle work at Walmart in rural Minnesota and do not have the resources to battle this by themselves.  They need our help.    We are hoping to raise funds to help Todd and Machelle get all the assistance they need to relieve some of the worry that comes with their uncertain future.  Machelle lives four hours away from the Mayo Clinic and needs to continue to work to support her household.  There will be many doctors visits, overnights and testing follow up appointments to come.  The loss of Todd's income will make it incredibly difficult to meet their obligations, as they live on an 8 acre farm and care for a variety of animals including horses and chickens. Todd and Machelle are very good hardworking people who love their animals and their life together.


It all seems incredibly unfair, but we don’t want to wallow in misery.  We want them to have hope.  Even if the long term situation seems dire, we need to raise enough money to give them some peace of mind that their community, their friends, their family, and even complete strangers are here for them.  If ever there was a reason for a GO FUND ME page, this would be it.  Please consider helping in any way you can.  We need to show them all the love and financial support we can send their way to help them overcome this painful news.  “There but for the grace of God, go I.”  This could happen to any of us, and we want the story to have a better ending than where we are now.  Todd and his wife Machelle are truly appreciative of your support.  Updates on Todd will be shared here.
