The Somerset Employees Relief Fund

Turks and Caicos was one of several Caribbean islands unfortunately in the path of Irma, a catastrophic hurricane on September 7th.  Luckily, The Somerset on Grace Bay sustained very little damage. Unfortunately, many of our employees lost their homes, cars and many of their personal possessions.

These are very hardworking individuals who deliver exceptional friendly service to every guest, and they worked tirelessly to prepare the resort prior to the hurricane. They are now working very hard to get the resort back online while also putting their personal lives back in order.

Resort owners, guests and friends are banding together to provide much needed funds for our employees to help them rebuild their personal lives.

The fund is being administered by the management team at The Somerset and will be distributed to employees on a need basis.  Aviva Pinto, Secretary of the Board of Directors will be receiving the funds and will be transferring them directly to the resort account. There is an executive board committee consisting of food & beverage, resort and condo association (strata) who are receiving applications from all employees affected.

The first round of emergency funds application was approved by the committee based on the gravity of the needs assessed and upon the application. Management
visited applicant homes to ensure integrity of the
applications prior to approving applications.  Those staff who are not physically here or who did not have an opportunity to apply will be allowed to apply in the future, they will be facilitated through the reserve fund.
