Adoption- Bringing Home Baby Jordan

Hello family and friends!

First and foremost thanks for taking the time to check out our page! Blake and I are excited to announce that we have chosen to expand our family through adoption! This decision has been on our hearts for several years, but the Lord really made it clear to us in recent months. We have been trying for a healthy pregnancy (on our own and with assistance) since 2010. It has taken us awhile to heal from our fertility battles, but we know that God is good and He placed us together for such a time as this!

Our journey leading up to adoption started in July of 2010. During Year 1 we tried on our own, but were unsuccessful in conceiving naturally. Year 2 consisted of 4 cycles of Clomid and eventually referrals to fertility specialists. At some point during this year, we were informed that for various reasons the chances of us conceiving on our own were 0%. We left the practice filled with sadness and emptiness along with a brochure for IVF. At the 3 year mark, we embarked on our first cycle of IVF. Joy and happiness filled our hearts as we learned on September 11, 2013 that we were expecting! Two weeks later, we saw not 1 but 2 small heartbeats on the screen to confirm what my gut had told me- we were having twins! Unfortunately, on my birthday, I miscarried one of our twins and our world turned upside down. We were sad at the loss, but remained thankful and positive for the remaining life inside of me. We literally held our breaths though the first trimester knowing that once we made it to 13 weeks we would be “in the clear”. That was not the case. At our 13 week appointment, we were referred to UNC Chapel Hill’s Maternal Fetal Specialists team. Over the next 7 weeks we learned that our baby had multiple rare deformities and life threatening conditions as well as a significant chromosome deletion and on January 2, our baby boy went to be with his Heavenly Father.

Although Blake and I have suffered a lot, we have gained a lot. Our marriage is stronger than ever and we are excited about the opportunity to grow our family through adoption. We do not look at adoption as a last resort.  There are many people who have a desire to have children, but we feel that God has given us the desire and the gift to love anyone’s child!

Many of you may know that adoption can be expensive and an emotional roller coaster. With private domestic adoption costs ranging from $25,000-$35,000++, we are asking for financial assistance! Every little bit counts; whether it is $10 or $1,000 your contribution is greatly appreciated! If you can’t donate right now, we ask that you pray for us and our future child! It is crazy, but not impossible to think, that he/she/they could be growing in the womb as we type this!

We have so much love to give and can't wait to share our lives and become parents to the perfect child(ren) God has in mind for us! Heartfelt thanks to all of you who have taken the time to read our story. Your support in our decision means a lot!

God Bless,
Blake & Jessica
