The Jon Monk Miracle Fund

As many of you are already aware, my brother Jon Monk was recently diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome or MDS; which is a precursor to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Doctors have offered Jon a ray of hope that is far better than what we had prayed for. There is a treatment. It is difficult, painful and long. If successful Jon may be cured of MDS AND he may be cured of Sickle Cell Disease!
The road before him is going to be very difficult. The truth is he may not survive it. With God's help, Jon has been staving off disease, infections and death for many years now; and now, Jon is readying himself for the fight of his life – a fight for his life.
This process will require many trips to hospitals that are far from Jon’s home in Lucerne Valley, CA. A long drive, followed by long hospital visits, followed by the long drive home simply does not provide the rest Jon will need during his treatments. We anticipate huge gas expense, meal expenses and hotel expenses.
Some of Jon’s treatment may not be covered by Medicare. Certainly needs that stand outside the treatment will have to come out of pocket. An example of this is that Jon has recently been fighting to keep the oxygen machine that help treats his Sickle Cell Disease, assists his sleep, and oxygenates his blood. If denied, $1200 is needed to purchase this necessity.
In our family discussions, we felt it important to open this opportunity of small sacrifice to all of Jon’s family and friends. Any help you can give, even the widow’s mite, will be helpful and accepted with gratitude by Jon and his family.
