The Hoody Memorial Golf Tournament & Dinner is an annual event that benefits The Hoody Memorial Fund through the Community Foundation of West Chester Liberty Alliance and remembers MSGT Corey Hood. MSGT Hood served five tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 82nd and 101st Airborne and had earned numerous awards, including two Bronze Stars. He was selected to The US Army Golden Knights, the US Army’s elite parachute team, in 2014. On August 16th, 2015, Corey passed away from injuries suffered while performing with the Golden Knights at the Chicago Air & Water Show.
Prior to his time in the Army, Corey was a proud Lakota West graduate who played football and wrestled for the school. Corey was a tough athlete both mentally and physically with a lot of heart and a lot of energy. The positive qualities Corey possessed as an athlete at Lakota West proved to serve him well while in the Army. The Hoody Memorial Fund is set up in memory of MSGT Corey Hood and is to be presented as a scholarship to a Lakota student who possess the same positive qualities that Corey exhibited throughout his life – a strong will, a desire to succeed, and “a little bit of grit”.
The inaugural Hoody Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting The Hoody Memorial Fund will be held August 13th at Beckett Ridge Country Club located at 5595 Beckett Ridge Boulevard.
The golf scramble will begin at Noon with a shotgun start. If you have a foursome, please let us know who you would like to play with when you register below in the comments section. If you don't have a foursome, we will be happy to pair you up with some others.
A memorial dinner will be held immediately after the outing at 6PM at The Back Porch Saloon. The dinner will include a ribs and chicken dinner, golf scoring, raffle, corn hole and other festivities.
The outing costs $95.00 and includes golf, two drink tickets, and the memorial dinner. $30.00 for dinner only for any non-golfers. Hole Sponsorships are available for $100.00.
