PROJECT ACCESS
Project Access is a network of local physicians and hospitals providing a complete range of healthcare services to low-income, uninsured Spokane County residents.

Since it's inception in 2003, Project Access has:
=> Provided over $29 million in charity care to Spokane County residents

=> Served over 3,500 friends, families, and neighbors (myself included)

=> Provided over $411, 477 in prescription medication

=> Donated complex care free of charge to thousands of Project Access patients

=> Provided $7.25 in direct medical care for each $1 invested into the program

Through the kindness and collaboration of local physicians and hospitals, who volunteer their time and donate their resources, Project Access is able to offer specialty-level, universal, on-demand healthcare services to individuals who would not have otherwise been able to access treatment and care.

The Project Access organization is truly a blessing for the Spokane community.

SEATTLE TO PORTLAND (STP)
PACT has set their goals on the 2012 STP.

The STP is the largest multi-day recreational bicycle event in the Pacific Northwest. It is a 204-mile trek that stretches from Seattle to Portland. It can be ridden over the course of one or two days. Either way, the event takes participants through some of the most scenic valleys, forests, and farmlands of western Washington and Oregon. Bicycle Magazine has listed the STP as one of the best cycling events in the nation. Last year, the STP attracted 10,000 riders and it was sold out by March 21, 2011. This years event will take place on July 14th and 15th.

MY STORY

PROJECT ACCESS GAVE ME MY LIFE BACK!

Hi, my name is Lori Mage.

First and foremost, thanks for your interest in THE PACT PROJECT!

For those of you who don't know me, I am the founder THE PACT PROJECT, a Project Access Graduate (a previous patient), and NOW a Project Access Advocate.

In short...

18-months ago, I could hardly walk. I was in constant pain with rarely enough strength to even leave the house. For me, simply showering was a huge task and anything beyond that was nearly impossible. Even though I was working as a graduate assistant at Gonzaga University, I was still uninsured, barely getting by financially, and unable to qualify for any state healthcare assistance.

Finally, after 17-months of searching for answers and depleting my savings, I finally got the help I needed through an organization called Project Access.

Project Access is a local nonprofit network of physicians and hospitals that generously volunteer their time and donate their resources to individuals like me and cases like mine "“ completely free of charge.

Thanks to Project Access, I quickly discovered that I had been waddling around for over a year and a half with two ruptured discs that needed surgery immediately. Dr. David Gruber (a Neurosurgeon at Inland Neurosurgery and Spine) volunteered to be my surgeon and Sacred Heart provided the facility and all of the additional needed resources "“ again, all free of charge.

Today, I am standing up-right completely pain-free. I have graduated from Gonzaga with my Masters; I have climbed Mt. Adams; and I have started my own business. All of which would have been impossible without Project Access.

When it comes to the gratitude that I feel towards all of the volunteer physicians that make Project Access possible, I am lost for words. I can't help but get emotional. They have truly given me my life back and as a way to say thank you, and pay-it-forward, I have created what I call, THE PACT PROJECT (PACT: Project Access Cycling Team).

The PACT Project is a team a cyclist committed to helping Project Access with their mission to provide quality healthcare to uninsured, low-income, Spokane County residents by riding in events to increase awareness, attract volunteer physicians, and raise additional financial support.

The PACT Project, at its core, is really a personal pact. It is a promise I made to myself months and months ago when I was desperate and searching for "anyone" that could help. It was way back then, that I told myself, if I ever get the help I need, I will not let it go unnoticed. I will find a way to give-back and express my appreciation.  Hence, The PACT Project was born.

The PACT Project is a brand new nonprofit that needs your help getting started.
