Bart and Barbie Gray Thank You Fund

Dear Fellow Arlington Flag Football Parents:
It is the end of an era in Arlington Flag Football and we ask that you consider contributing to a goodbye gift for the founders of our league.
For the last 12 years our children have been fortunate to play NFL Flag Football in Arlington. Many other communities do not have this program. It has brought countless hours of joy for our children and families. What some of you may not know is that, for the vast majority of the last 12 years, our league was run by one family. Bart and Barbie Gray started the league back in 2005 and grew it to become the most popular sport in Arlington. Registration has been known to fill up in certain age groups in less than 2 hours!
EVERY Fall night for the last 12 years, Bart and Barbie have been out there setting up fields, officiating, and administering the league. Can you imagine doing that every night for 12 years? Besides what we see on game day, Bart and Barbie have donated thousands of hours to our community handling all the ins and outs of our league – so much needs to be done even before the season begins. You can only imagine the headaches they must have endured and all that they had to sacrifice to do this for our kids.
Over the last couple years, the County has stepped in to handle more of the program. Bart and Barbie’s kids have grown up and are now in college. They have decided to retire near Farmville, Virginia. However, they are not done giving their time and energy to kids. With their retirement, they have purchased 25 acres of land near Farmville and are opening a facility for kids to play baseball, football, etc. They will incur many costs to build this facility and are taking a large risk with their retirement.
As one final thank you to the Gray family we, the Arlington Flag Football families, have set up a GoFundMe account to help this fine family with business startup and legal costs. If you find it within your heart, we ask you to donate any amount you are comfortable with and drop a note to the Grays. Please feel free to forward this to prior Arlington Flag Football or baseball families that would like to join in donating and saying a fond good bye to Bart, Barbie, Hunter, and Foster.
Please do not discuss this near the fields or with anyone related to the County. We would like for this to be a surprise for the Gray’s at the end of the season and we don't want them to feel obligated to answer the same questions repeatedly. But we do want you to spread the word (facebook, etc)to maximize the gift and the sentiment.
