A final thank you to CJ

I have made the difficult decision to put CJ to rest. He has suffered from navicular syndrome and the accompanying secondary issues for many, many years. He has been retired for the last two years, but has suffered a soft tissue separation in his right hand leg. He is sore all the time, and has not had much quality of life for a while now. He is almost always in a safe lot by himself, unable to be with other horses as I am in constant fear that he will become more injured. He can no longer trot or canter, as much as he tries. When he lays down or rolls, he often needs help to get back up. It breaks my heart to see him like this, and I don't foresee a good winter for him if I don't intervene.
With that said, I need help giving CJ what he deserves. The cost to put him down is minimal, but he has given so much of himself to so many people...he doesn't deserve a rendering truck. My wish for him is to be cremated and for him to remain with us, his family. The cost is a ballpark of $2000. I simply don't have the funds, and think this is a good opportunity for anyone who has had their life touched by this sweet boy, to give their thanks and pay tribute to the best horse ever born. Any contribution is greatly appreciated.
