Medical expenses for my dad.

Donation protected
This is my dad.  One of the best guys you could ever meet.  He is an eternal optimist but has had epilepsy most of his life.  He is 58 years young (yes they were very young when they had me)!  He and my mother have been married for 40 years and have been by each other's side since they were 15 years old.  He has supported and loved my brother and I unconditionally and has always worked very hard to provide for us.  He has always been there for us and often put his own needs after everyone else's because that's the kind of guy he is.
He has left temporal lobe epilepsy affecting his speech and memory.  Up until 7-8 months ago, his seizures were "controlled" by drug therapy.  His seizures were always nocturnal leaving him with excruciating headaches and a bit slower in the morning but most of us never noticed because he always had a smile on his face and just wanted to be "normal".  He wished the seizures would just go away, but they have only gotten worse.  He is now on the highest doses of numerous anti seizure drugs and they are not working.  He has worked for the past 18 years at MBNA (now Bank of America) but 3-4 weeks ago, he admitted he couldn't function at work anymore and is having 1-3 seizures everyday.  With each seizure he is losing significant cognitive brain function and after recent EEG's and a 3D MRI, showing abnormal brain function and significant scarring in the brain, we decided it was time to go to Boston and see a neurological team at Massachussettes General Hospital.  He needs to go back down for a week of specialized testing to map out his brain to see if he is a good candidate for brain surgery to remove the portion of his brain that is causing the seizures.  Drug therapy is no longer working for him and the best possible option would be this surgery (if the risks vs. benefits are in his favor).  With successful surgery, there is an 80% chance he could live the rest of his life seizure free.  These neurologists are the best in the nation and we know its time to move forward with trying to get my dad healthy and seizure free.  He has a long road ahead of him and a great deal of travel and medical expenses.  I know that with a little bit of help, he will be able to get all of the testing and procedures needed so he can have the quality of life he deserves.  If there is anything you can contribute, we will be eternally grateful.
