Everyone Loves a Little Tequila!

If you met Tequila, you would fall in L-O-V-E.

A little bio for our little Tequila...

A 6 year old Maltese coming in at an adorable 6lbs, Tequila has never met a stranger and truly believes all humans are her best friends. The instant you make eye contact with her, she is already rolling onto her back begging for a belly rub. The perfect mix of playful and couch potato, she is a master of Hide-and-Seek and can give a Sloth a run for his money. Girl loves her naps.

(I wasn't lying about the napping...)

How we met...

It was fate that brought me into the pet store where I met and fell in love with this little cotton ball. I saw her and knew she had to be mine. Being only 18 at the time and living at my parent's (strict anti-pet) house, I took a huge risk and brought her home. Within minutes of meeting her no one questioned my decision.

During her first trip to the veterinarian, I discovered that Tequila was only 5-6 weeks old - much younger than the acceptable 8 weeks when most puppies are ready for a new home. Not only that, but she was full of viruses from her time at the store. Once she had her energy back, I noticed she occasionally limped. We took her back to the vet and I was informed that she had a condition known as Patellar Luxation in her two back knees (kneecap dislocation). Although the condition was in the very early stages, the vet explained it would slowly worsen over the years. We were given a variety of exercises and vitamins to help strengthen her knees and joints, which helped for the time being.

Unfortunately, that day has arrived and this condition can no longer be ignored. Over the course of the last month, Tequila has changed. Once energetic and alert, she now prefers to lay in her bed and has not put her back right leg down. After trying a variety of different (and costly) combinations of pain medication and anti-inflammatory pills, Tequila has no other option but surgery. The surgery to correct the luxating patella will cost $3,370.

Your donation will help contribute towards the cost of:
- Sedation and day stay for x-rays and tests
- Anesthesia
- Luxating patella surgery
- Pain pills and anti-inflammatory medication
- And a future of unlimited belly rubs...

(I seriously wasn't lying about the napping...)

I am a 24 year old hairdresser at the beginning of my career and do not have the financial means to afford this surgery. Tequila is my everything and I have no choice but to rely on the kindness of friends, family, and strangers.

Any donation - big or small - would be immensely helpful and I will be forever grateful.

Love,
Samantha & Tequila
