Computers for families during Lockdown

Tech-Takeback is a not-for-profit company who have been working to tackle electrical waste and support digital inclusion initiatives through reuse since 2016. We have partnered with local digital inclusion charities to provide data-erased and refurbished devices to digitally-excluded members of community without access to technology. These devices have provided access to social interaction, education, work, healthcare and support for people across the city during this challenging time.

With the recent closure of schools across the region, we want to help as many children and young people as possible to continue their education from home.   If you have any Tech you would like to donate please go to this page where both residents and businesses can arrange collections:

We have collected a large number of laptops, tablets and smartphones from residents and businesses across Brighton & Hove in recent months but we need support to get these devices ready for urgent use, in the form of funding to employ refurbishment staff for refurbishment resources and repairs, to pay for data erasure licences (essential for both secure data erasure to protect the donor’s data as well as to ensure the recipient children are not exposed to any unsuitable data), and fund repairs as well as operating system and software licences. We have been contacted by numerous schools and families in need of support since the recent lockdown – your support is needed so we can get devices to them as soon as possible.

Any contribution that you can offer would make a world of difference to a family that cannot access, or has to share a device to learn from home. We believe that every child deserves to access education.
