Remember Amy's Life! (5 years of it with ALS...)

Donation protected

Amy wrote on November 8th, the day marking the 5 year anniversary of being diagnosed with ALS: “My life today is not what I could have imagined, but it is a life worth living. I am loved, I am needed, I am generally happy and I am contributing to my world around me.”

Amy lead a joyful life, engaging in life as a mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Her smile was present right up through this year's Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas tree decorating with her family.

On Friday, November 23, she suffered a pulmonary embolism and unexpectedly passed away, surrounded by family.

We are thankful for our time with Amy. We are grateful for the love and support of her family and friends, and for the superheroes of the ALS community. Amy’s love and spirit was above and beyond what any of us could have imagined, and she will be missed.

Our family hopes you find peace, inspiration, and beauty in a life worth living.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 3:00pm in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, CT. Friends may visit with the family before service time from 12:00pm to 3:00pm in the Funeral home.

Amy wrote on November 8, 2018:

"Five years ago today I was diagnosed with ALS.

Which, I realize, is kind of an arbitrary date... I mean, my appt could have been the week before or the week after ... but November 8th it is.

So today I am officially on the other side of "The mean survival time for people with ALS is three to five years"
So today I say SUCK IT ALS.

My life today is not what I could have imagined but it is a life worth living. I am loved, I am needed, I am generally happy and I am contributing to my world around me. I am a pain in the ass and definitely more expensive to keep alive, but I'm worth it.

So today is a good day. Here's to fifty more years!"
