On September 9th 2012, a pint- sized baby girl was born. At 24 weeks gestation, 16 weeks before she was due, and after an extremely complicated pregnancy, she weighed a meager 1 pound 3 ounces and was 11 inches in length. She was classified as a micro-preemie.

Our enchanting Shealynn Adele has spent every day since birth, hospitalized.

Shea has a tracheostomy and is ventilator dependent. She has chronic lung disease/bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), acquired lobar emphysema, persistent pulmonary hypertension, a Nissen Fundoplication, adrenal suppression due to prolonged steroid use, ventriculomegaly, persistent fevers of unknown origin, multiple developmental delays, and is fed through a g-tube. She has had multiple surgeries, 12 blood transfusions, scans, IV's and central lines placed, amongst a plethora of other tests and procedures.
Her doctors had given her 3 options: A) to make her comfortable as possible as she continued to deteriorate, and pass away, B) have a lung resection, to remove the middle lobe of her right lung - the lobe that is most severely affected by the acquired lobar emphysema, in a surgery that she likely would not survive, and C) to be evaluated for a lung transplant, because her lungs are so sick. Her parents refused to accept that these were the only options, so they requested a second opinion, and she was transferred to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHoP). CHoP is over 2300 miles away from her home, and this is the 5th facility she has been in.

Joel and Shealynn.

Miss Shealynn has two wonderful, loving and giving parents, Jen and Joel. They have done everything in their power to make sure their baby girl gets the ABSOLUTE best care for her condition. Needless to say as most can imagine, this has been a very difficult journey, both for Shea and her parents.

Besides the inundation of worrying about their daughter's health and future, Jen and Joel have had to make quite difficult decisions when it came to transferring her care. This transfer has taken Jen away from her two young boys, Bodhi and Jett.

Bodhi, Shealynn and Jett.

The transfer has taken all 3 of them, Jen, Joel and Shea, away from the community they have known and loved , Flagstaff, AZ. While the transfer is considered temporary, at this stage it is indefinite.

The couple is now faced with mounting medical and financial struggles, and are behind on their bills. They are down to one income due to their transferring Shea's care. They also are continuing to maintain their home in Arizona, and are incurring additional expenses due to their temporary relocation to Pennsylvania. While receiving treatment in Arizona prior to her transfer, Jen and Joel would have to travel 160 miles, both directions from Flagstaff to Phoenix, multiple times a week to be with their daughter. This travel alone is a large contributor to the exhaustion of their savings.

At this time, the family and loved ones for Shea, Jen and Joel would like to put in place this fundraiser to assist them with their needs. Any amount contributed goes a long way and will be appreciated more than you know.

The BEST people ever. Ever.

Please consider helping in any way you can to give these folks some peace of mind, while they continue to battle, COURAGEOUSLY, to bring Shea back to her home in Flagstaff, AZ, and to help get their family back together!!!

WE MISS YOU ALL DEARLY!
Love,
Aunt JiJi
