Our sister Laurie was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 16, 2011. As many of you know, she is "Mom" to five great children (Emma, Zach, Michael, Matthew and Aubrey) who range in age from 5-13 years old. Laurie and her husband Mark just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in July. After much prayer, they are now allowing us to create this Go Fund Me site in response to their growing need in the face of this terrible disease.
Treatments have included costly rounds of chemo, radiation, medications and surgeries. Laurie most recently was given a "bionic hip" (as we like to call it), which is why she has had to go on disability from the work she so enjoys as a teacher at The Classical Academies in Escondido. Mark works as a Marriage and Family Therapist for Family Focus Christian Counseling in El Cajon.
Laurie is beloved by many and her life has positively impacted her family, church, co-workers and students. We have been approached by people asking how they can help. Hopefully this site will provide a way for Team Laurie to be the hands and feet of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Laurie's hope and prayer is that her journey will allow His light to shine brightly and point people to God. She and Mark are private people, so things like Go Fund Me are not easy for them. But they know God has a purpose and a plan. He is our Hope.
Mark & Laurie prefer to not give an amount needed or a deadline. Go Fund Me requires us to list these, so the ones here are only used to facilitate completion of this site. That said, the "goal" is to raise $10,000 by Easter (April 1, 2018). We thank you deeply on their behalf for all prayers and any donations offered.
